5 Things You Think Work, But Acutally Don't
This article was very interesting. Ever think that the button you push to at a crosswalk doesn't acutally work, well you might actually be right.
The article shows how not it all circumstances but in some the following might just be there for looks and actually have no real purpose.
1. The Elevator "Close Doors" Button
2. "HD" TV
3. Walk Signal Buttons
4. Butt-Toning Shoes
5. Office Thermostats
This article shows that it was cheaper to sometimes keep the buttons or machines, but the actual use may not be activated or need personnel permission. The website gives more detail about each one individually how they can be deceptive. It just makes you think how dependent we are that we believe that the technology will work, but when in reality we may just think that.
The website for the article was found at yahoo.com searching "5 Things You Think Work, But Actually Don't".
i was reading this too, thought about doing a post on it but ended up deciding not to; i was most surprised by the elevator buttons personally, it always seems like they work.
ReplyDeletewhen i read the walk button/hd tv headlines i was like there's no way they don't work; because up here the walk lights don't even come on unless someone presses them but then it said that it was mostly cities so i was like ok that makes sense. the hd tv thing got me too but it was another of those "well; it does but only if you have the equipment" and i was like duhh.
nice call on posting it though, i wasn't sure if anyone else would be as interested as i was lol
The article doesn't state that they don't work ALL the time. Its just in some cases where its cheaper to keep the button there, but it having no real purpose. You could be lucky and have had ones where the button actually had a function.
ReplyDeleteAnd the whole thing definitely caught my attention. It's so true about the HD TV...once someone see's it they automatically think that the function is available and doesn't think about whether or not they have the accessibility to HD.
Haha, glad you didn't post it, cause then i could.
